I read about Forrest Fenn’s treasure and decided to fly to Santa Fe to meet him.

The whole place and story felt so strange and weighted with a sense of mystery that I wanted to get lost with the treasure hunters searching for gold and meaning.

THE LURE

Feature

On my first flight to New Mexico I started trying to work out the clues that could take you to the gold, and soon realised that if I carried on down that path, I’d be lost forever.

Instead I spent my time making a film about the power of creating your own myth and how searching for something just out of reach can lead you to a place of understanding and appreciation for the world around you.

I wanted to have great collaborators for this film (In No Great Hurry had been so solitary at times) and I was lucky to have Calexico write the score, Bonnie Prince Billy wrote me a title song, my dream colorist helped me make it look beautiful and then, to top it all off, Errol Morris came on board to be the Exec Producer.

Leach enters from a place of emotion and how this circus has affected those who’ve embraced it. Nothing is more powerful and Leach knows it.
